Q. How do I know if iRa is right for me?
A. iRa is probably not a good fit for viewing simple web cams remotely. iRa provides complete viewing and control of very powerful surveillance equipment. If you or your integrator have the networking experience to work with digital IP based video camera systems and are using compatible equipment then iRa is perfect for you.
Q. What hardware does iRa support?
A. iRa supports an ever growing list of industry leading surveillance equipment, listed in our iRa compatibility guide.
Q.When will you support camera XYZ?
A. Please send us detailed model numbers and vendor web site URLs using our contact form and we'll try to schedule new cameras as user demand indicates.
Q. What if I REALLY need camera XYZ supported or I am a PTZ/Camera vendor who would like iRa to support my product?
A. Please contact us regarding expediting the development cycle for your equipment/protocol for a fee.
Q. What digital video standards does iRa support?
A. iRa supports Motion JPEG. Where possible we use bandwidth saving features such as Axis VAPIX API to dynamically change video resolution, but iRa will function with equipment that works on a fixed resolution. Please note that we have found some equipment that claims to provide Motion JPEG video, but that really uses a hacked up version of the protocol to talk with their own proprietary web browser plugins.
Q. Can I view video over AT&T's EDGE network?
A. Partially, depending on the coverage area. We have seen examples where the video comes through at a few frames per second and other times when a connection to cameras cannot be established. This one is heavily dependent on AT&T's coverage in your area. We recommend getting a 3G iPhone if available in your area.
Q. Can I view video over a 3G network?
A. Absolutely. iRa has been tested as very functional over 3G networks but note that performance varies based on your signal coverage which does vary significantly.
Q.Who can I contact about custom integration/development?
A. Our sister company, Lextech Global Services, specializes in building custom software based systems and can handle anything from full custom development to special integration needs for Lextech Labs' products.
Q. How do I purchase/install multiple copies of iRa?
A. iRa must be purchased for each unique device it will be operated on simultaneously. Due to the way Apple has the App Store set up each device will require its own unique iTunes account from which the application must be purchased.
